Secret Gardens : A history of love

The idea of the Secret Gardens came from the unfettered imagination of a determined couple who have turned them into a fascinating and stimulating place to visit since their opening in 1994.

In 1980, Alain and Nicole Moumen bought an old farm surrounded by extensive land in the Haute-Savoie, with the idea of living and working there as a family.

At the time Alain was making furniture which Nicole decorated. Building this type of garden had never entered their heads, even less the idea of having it open to the public.
But, for more than ten years, helped by their three teenage girls, Alain and Nicole spent their time renovating, building and decorating.

Guided only by instinct, Alain built in empire style, learning along the way the skills of working with the resources he loved.
Nicole played with colours, atmosphere, decorated and added the flowers.

Hidden behind their large wall, the Gardens intrigued and caused great interest and admiration amongst their entourage.
In 1994, Nicole and Alain encouraged by the interest, decided to open the doors of their Secret Gardens for the first time.
